Nyasha Mushekwi’s Football Career

Nyasha Mushekwi is a Zimbabwean professional footballer born on August 21, 1987, and currently playing for the Chinese Super League club Zhejiang Greentown. He started his career in his home country with CAPS United, where he won the top scorer award in the 2009 season after scoring 21 league goals.

Mushekwi then made a move to South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in 2010, where he found immediate success and became the second-best goalscorer of the 2010–11 Premier Soccer League season. In April 2013, Mamelodi Sundowns extended his contract for another year, and Mushekwi was then sent on loan to Belgian club K.V. Oostende for the 2013–14 season.

After his injury recovery in November 2014, Mushekwi was not registered to play for his South African club because they had already used all their foreign player slots for the season. In 2015, he went on trial with Hobro IK in Denmark but signed a six-month loan deal with Swedish club Djurgårdens IF. Later in the year, he transferred to China League One side Dalian Yifang, where he was the top goal scorer in the team for three consecutive seasons. However, Mushekwi suffered a few serious injuries that affected his physical condition.

Despite suffering from injuries, Mushekwi’s strong spirit helped him become a vital player for Dalian Yifang. In 2017, he helped Yifang win the League One title and scored an important goal after being tackled brutally on his right leg. In 2018, he won a position by scoring continuously and became one of the most important players in the team’s history. However, he suffered pelvis injuries during the season and tried to stay in the game after a heavy collision in the head with the opponent’s goalkeeper.

In the 2019 season, Mushekwi’s performance was below expectations due to his surgery. On July 15, 2019, he joined China League One side Zhejiang Greentown, where he played a vital part in the club’s promotion to the top tier at the end of the 2021 campaign.
