Andre Onana Excited for “Irresistible” Move to Manchester United
Goalkeeper Andre Onana has expressed his delight over his imminent transfer to Manchester United, admitting that the move to the Premier League was “irresistible.”
The Cameroonian shot-stopper has already arrived in Manchester to finalize the deal, with United set to pay €51 million (£43.8m/$57.3m) in an initial fee, plus an additional €4m (£3.4m/$4.5m) in add-ons.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, Onana revealed his eagerness for a new challenge and playing for a prestigious club like Manchester United.
However, he also stated that he would have been happy to continue at Inter had the transfer not materialized.
Onana emphasized the importance of honesty and stated,
“I am a person who always wants new challenges. Playing in the Premier League and for a club like United is irresistible. All parties wanted this to happen. But what matters is that if I had stayed, I would have been happy because I never had any problems at Inter.”
One of the exciting aspects for Onana is the opportunity to reunite with his former Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, whom he regards as a “master.”

He expressed his eagerness to start this new experience under the tutelage of Ten Hag and showcase his abilities to the United fans.
Having narrowly missed out on winning the Champions League with Inter, losing to Manchester City in the 2022-23 final, Onana is determined to win the prestigious trophy with his new club.
While he felt a mix of pride and sadness for not bringing the trophy to Milan, he hopes that Inter gets another chance to win the final.
Onana is set to undergo a medical at Manchester United’s training ground and complete the necessary paperwork before being officially presented as a United player.
He is also expected to join the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, eager to start this new chapter in his career.
