Kaizer Chiefs, a South African football club, has secured the future of their promising youth talent Mduduzi Shabalala by signing him to a new long-term deal. The 20-year-old South Africa youth international had previously inked a three-year contract with the club last winter.

Since then, Shabalala, affectionately known as ‘Mdu or Die’, has become a regular for the club’s senior team. Kaizer Chiefs is now preparing to face off against Richards Bay in their upcoming match.

In a recent development, the agent of 19-year-old South African footballer Mduduzi Shabalala, Mike Makaab, has confirmed that he has successfully negotiated a new contract for the talented youngster. Makaab’s statement came in response to a fan’s speculation that he was planning to orchestrate a move for Shabalala away from his current club, Kaizer Chiefs.

The fan conjecture arose following Shabalala’s standout performance in a recent match against Orlando Pirates. However, Makaab dismissed the notion and instead revealed that he had recently secured a new deal for the versatile attacker, who had previously been named Player of the Tournament at the 2020 Cosafa Under-17 Championship.

Mike Makaab, the agent of South African footballer Mduduzi Shabalala, recently took to social media to respond to speculation about his client’s future. Makaab dismissed rumors of a possible move for Shabalala away from Kaizer Chiefs and instead confirmed that the talented youngster had just signed a new five-year contract with the club.

Shabalala, who previously underwent trials at Belgian club Westerlo, had signed a three-year deal with Kaizer Chiefs in June 2022, after being promoted from the club’s reserve team. Since then, the 19-year-old has been utilized sparingly by coach Arthur Zwane, as he focused on his studies and played for the Amakhosi reserve team in the DStv Diski Challenge during the first round of the current season.

However, ‘Mdu or Die’ has now earned a regular spot in the Kaizer Chiefs’ first team, and has been one of Zwane’s standout performers in recent weeks. The South Africa under-23 international’s new long-term deal with the club is a testament to his potential and a signal of Kaizer Chiefs’ commitment to developing young talent.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SHABALALA?: The young sensation, Mdu or Die, along with his Kaizer Chiefs colleagues, is scheduled to take on Richards Bay in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match on March 4th. Having already scored two goals from nine league games, the South Africa youth international will undoubtedly aim to increase his tally when he takes on Richards Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium.
