The CAF Champions League quarter-final draw has seen Sundowns drawn against CR Belouizdad.
Sundowns have faced Belouizdad twice before in the same competition, winning one and losing one.
Sundowns will be looking to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in four seasons.
The winner between Sundowns and Belouizdad will face either Simba or Wydad in the semi-finals.
Sundowns’ next fixture is against Swallows FC in the PSL.
Previous Meetings Between the Teams
Sundowns and Belouizdad faced each other twice in the same competition during the 2020-21 Group B campaign. In the first meeting, Sundowns hammered Belouizdad 5-1 in Tanzania. However, the North African side claimed a surprise 2-0 victory over Sundowns in the reverse fixture in Pretoria.
The Bigger Picture
Sundowns have been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the competition in the last three seasons. However, coach Rhulani Mokwena will be determined to lead the Tshwane giants to the semi-finals and ultimately clinch their second Champions League title.
The winner on aggregate between Sundowns and Belouizdad will face either Simba or defending champions Wydad in the semi-finals next month.
The quarter-final first-leg matches are set to take place on 21-22 April, with the second-leg games scheduled for 28-29 April.
