FC Platinum Coach Mapeza Concerned Over Poor Defensive Record

FC Platinum’s head coach, Norman Mapeza, has expressed his concern over the team’s poor defensive performance in their recent matches. Despite being defending champions, FC Platinum has managed only one clean sheet in their first five games of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. Mapeza believes that their poor defensive record is a cause for concern and that the team needs to defend better if they want to maintain their title.

Conceding First in Four of Five Matches

FC Platinum has also conceded the first goal in four of their five matches, which is a worrying trend for the team. Last week against CAPS United, FC Platinum had to rely on a late equalizer from substitute Perfect Chikwende to salvage a point after William Manondo had put the Green Machine ahead in the first half.

Ahead of their upcoming game against Triangle United at Mandava Stadium, Mapeza highlighted the need for his team to defend better. He believes that conceding first can result in losing the game due to the failure to recover, and it’s an area where the team needs to improve.

Mapeza Worried About Defensive Record

Mapeza spoke about his concern, saying,

“I’m really worried about it. It’s a situation whereby as a coach, it worries me. It makes me worry because we have been conceding. If you look at our last five games, we have been conceding in each and every game, and it’s something we are trying to address.”

Mapeza acknowledged that they are working on it during their training sessions, but it’s a challenge that is difficult to overcome in every football game. He insists that his team needs to be more resilient and show character if they want to recover from conceding first and secure a win.

Coach Mapeza Demands Improvement

Mapeza is demanding an improvement in his team’s defensive record, saying,

“It’s a habit that needs to change. If you fail to recover, you will end up losing the game. It happened against Highlanders, and we couldn’t recover, so it’s something that we have been talking to the boys about.”

The former Warriors captain believes that conceding first can be detrimental to the team’s success and has urged his players to be more defensively disciplined. FC Platinum will need to address their defensive issues if they hope to retain their title this season.
