Ex-Chiefs Winger Inspires Saleng To Explore New Opportunities

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese has issued a challenge to Monnapule Saleng to seek out a new challenge beyond his current club, Orlando Pirates. Saleng has been consistently outstanding for Pirates this season, contributing to their success in winning the MTN8 cup and their ongoing pursuit of a Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League spot.

Lebese believes that Saleng should now begin to look beyond the Buccaneers and the South African Premier Soccer League (PSL), arguing that the 24-year-old has all the attributes necessary to succeed at a higher level, possibly even abroad. Despite Saleng’s excellent performances for Pirates, Lebese feels that he has the potential to achieve even greater heights in his career.

Speaking to This is Football Africa, George Lebese commented on Monnapule Saleng’s progress as a player, praising his ability to score goals and find good positions on the field. Lebese also highlighted Saleng’s energy and speed as valuable assets but urged him to demand more from himself and to look beyond his current club and the PSL.

Lebese emphasized the importance of statistics in football, citing the focus on goals, assists, and other key metrics in European football. He advised Saleng to aim for a goal or an assist in every game and to continually analyze his performances to identify areas for improvement.

Saleng has been a key contributor to Orlando Pirates’ recent successes, scoring three goals and providing an assist in three matches during their MTN8 Cup victory, as well as scoring in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32. In the league, he has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 14 matches, playing an integral role in the team’s push for a CAF Champions League spot.
