Kaizer Chiefs Transfer Bid For Mdantsane Nearly Succeeds
Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has announced that Kaizer Chiefs pulled out of their late attempt to sign midfielder Mduzuzi Mdantsane. Chiefs were on the lookout for a midfielder during the January transfer window and had targeted Mdantsane from CT City. However, Tinkler has now revealed that the deal fell through.
During the January transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs expressed interest in signing midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane, with reports initially suggesting that Cape Town City had turned down Kaizer Chiefs’ offer.
However, according to Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler, it was actually Kaizer Chiefs who withdrew from the deal at the last minute, despite it looking likely to go through.
As for Sekhukhune United, who were also in the running to sign Mdantsane, they missed out on the opportunity. Tinkler commented on the situation during an interview with Marawa Sports Worldwide, stating that he believes the deal was very close to being completed.
According to Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler, Kaizer Chiefs withdrew from the deal to sign Mduduzi Mdantsane at the last minute. Tinkler confirmed that the player had already been informed of the potential transfer and that both Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune were in the running.

Tinkler also dismissed reports that Cape Town City turned down Kaizer Chiefs’ offer, stating that the club is supportive of their players moving to bigger clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Tinkler believes that it’s important to not stand in the way of a player’s career progression and future financial security. Despite losing key players like Terrence Mashego and Craig Martin to bigger clubs, Tinkler remains optimistic that the team will continue to find talented players like Mdantsane.
It remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs will continue their pursuit of Mduduzi Mdantsane, whose contract with Cape Town City expires on June 30. However, the Soweto giants have the option to sign him on a pre-contract deal.
Kaizer Chiefs have already secured SuperSport United defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe on a pre-contract, indicating that coach Arthur Zwane is already planning for next season. It’s possible that Zwane may still be interested in signing Mdantsane to strengthen his squad.
