Kaizer Jr Speaks Out On The Current State Of Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has commented on the current situation the club finds themselves in ahead of the Soweto Derby.
The Amakhosi are only three points behind their Soweto rivals but have only managed one win in the DStv Premiership in 2023 after their 3–2 defeat to Golden Arrows on Sunday. After the match, parts of the fans at Peter Mokaba Stadium booed their own team and were chanting “Arthur must go” in the direction of the head coach and former player Arthur Zwane. Kaizer Jr addressed the situation on Monday, calling for composure and backing for the club’s players and coaching staff ahead of the Derby.
“We have started to utilize a style of play that our supporters can recognize and appreciate, but the most important component of this is the outcomes we are able to achieve. It is only right that we are held accountable for the results that we produce. We need the help of our fans to achieve this, especially in moments when the going gets tough,” said Kaizer Jr.
“Players, especially our younger ones, will be putting forth their utmost effort in order to make our supporters proud. It is times like these when we can see what the true character of people and teams can be. We ask for the support of our fans, so that our technical staff, players, and team have the necessary courage to put forth their best effort.”
What’s Next: Kaizer Chiefs will face the Pirates at FNB Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 PM, having earned a 1–0 win in the earlier meeting between the two teams courtesy of Yusuf Maart‘s stunning goal from his own half.
