Khune insists: “Kaizer Chiefs Are A Great Team,” Ahead Of Soweto Derby Against Orlando Pirates

Prior to the Soweto Derby, veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune argues that Kaizer Chiefs’ loss against Golden Arrows does not make them a bad team.

Pressure is on Kaizer Chiefs to win against Pirates following their loss to the Arrows.  Amakhosi are not praised, according to Khune.

Even after losing 3-2 to Arrows, the Chiefs skipper is adamant that Amakhosi will put on a strong showing in the Soweto Derby.

Although the Glamour Boys managed to keep three clean sheets in their previous three games across all competitions, the veteran goalkeeper thinks that the Glamour Boys cannot be judged by one defeat.

Khune adds that, in contrast to other seasons, the team is led by new head coach Arthur Zwane and young players with personalities.

Zwane earned the club’s support on Monday despite requests from supporters to have him fired, and the 35-year-old goalkeeper is certain the team is headed in the right direction.

WHAT HE SAID: “I believe that the outcome from Sunday is being used to judge us. We have played quite well after recovering from our three losses, and considering that this season we have a new team and a new head coach, we haven’t done too terribly, remarked Khune in a news conference.”

“I believe we deserve praise. The newcomers have assimilated well, and we have now played three games while keeping three clean sheets against Royal AM, TS Galaxy, and Maritzburg United.”

“No one is talking about that anymore because these players have changed the mentality,”? Everyone praises the way we play, which is the Kaizer Chiefs’ manner of football. We’ll keep doing that, and nothing from the outside will be able to weaken our unity as a team.”

Kaizer Chiefs have defeated Pirates in each of their past four league encounters. When the two teams last faced off in league play, Yusuf Maart scored the only goal, and Bucs will look to exact revenge.

Given that both sides are vying for a position in the Caf Champions League, a close game is anticipated.

WHAT COMES UP: Chiefs’ victory in the Soweto Derby on Saturday would undoubtedly lessen the strain on the players and coach Zwane.
