Malawi FA’s Technical Subcommittee recommends Pasuwa for the national team job

The Football Association of Malawi’s technical sub-committee has recommended FC Bullets Nyasa coach Kalisto Pasuwa to take over as interim coach of the national team. The decision comes after the association revealed that Romanian coach Mario Marinica will not have his contract renewed and will be taking leave for the rest of his one-year contract.

Pasuwa recommended for the interim post

According to The Nation newspaper, several coaches were considered for the interim post, but the technical committee settled on recommending Pasuwa. An anonymous source said that a few names were discussed, but ultimately Pasuwa was chosen.

Acting Chairperson confirms the recommendation

The committee’s acting chairperson, Suzgo Ngwira-Simbi, who is also a FAM executive committee member, confirmed the development but declined to reveal the name of the candidate. She stated that “it was recommended that the post should be advertised, but in the interim, a caretaker panel was recommended. However, I cannot reveal the names as this is just a recommendation to the FAM executive committee.”

Pasuwa’s possible second stint as national team coach

Pasuwa is set to lead a national team for the second time if he gets the job. He previously led the Warriors in 2017. It is unclear how long Pasuwa will be interim coach and whether he will be appointed as the full-time coach.

The Football Association of Malawi’s decision to recommend Pasuwa for the national team job will be a significant boost for the coach, who has been making headlines in recent years for his impressive performances with FCB Nyasa Bullets. It remains to be seen whether he will be appointed as the full-time coach, but his experience and track record suggest that he is a strong candidate for the position. The nation awaits the decision of the FAM executive committee with anticipation.
