Pay Up or Lose Up: Appiah’s $200 Demand From Dynamos
Former Dynamos defender, Sylvester Appiah, has claimed that the Harare giants will struggle to win the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League until they pay him the US$200 that he says they owe him. Appiah, who was at DeMbare last season, alleges that the club failed to pay him his share of the prize money they received for finishing third last season.
Background: Appiah’s Exit from Dynamos
Appiah left Dynamos at the end of 2022 when his contract expired. Reports suggest that Appiah destroyed club property, and the money he was owed was channeled towards fixing it. However, Appiah has denied these claims, stating that the money was rightfully his, and he will cast a spell on the club if they fail to pay him.
According to Appiah, after the 2022 season, Dynamos gave every player $200 as prize money. However, Appiah alleges that he did not receive his share of the prize money. He claims that Dynamos were justifying not paying him by suggesting that he and his roommates had damaged club property. But Appiah maintains that he did not damage any property and that the club’s claims are baseless.
Appiah has since returned to Ghana and has been vocal in his demands for payment. He has declared that Dynamos will not be successful in the league until he is paid. Appiah has also warned the club that he will cast a spell on them if they do not pay him.
The Impact of the Payment Dispute
Appiah has made some bold claims about the impact of the payment dispute on Dynamos. He has stated that the club’s current poor form, which has seen them fail to win any of their last four games in all competitions, is related to his payment issue. Appiah insists that this issue has nothing to do with the club’s coach, Hebert Maruwa.
Appiah has even gone as far as predicting that Dynamos will not finish in the top four at the end of the season if they do not pay him. He maintains that the money is rightfully his and has warned the club that he will use supernatural means to get it.
