Pitso Mosimane Leads Al Ahli To Promotion Glory
In yet another stunning display of form, Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahli Saud SC have taken another last-minute win against their opponents, taking them one step closer to securing their promotion to the Saudi Pro League.
Al Ahli secured their 10th successive win against Wednesday evening’s opponents in a thrilling encounter that saw a goal in the 97th minute secure their victory. The first half was marked by a late opener from Hassan Al-Ali, who put Al Ahli ahead in the fifth minute of injury time.
Jean-Marc Makusu equalized for the home side in the 55th minute, leveling the playing field for the remainder of the game. However, Al Ahli had the last laugh with Ryad Boudebouz’s last-minute winner, securing them the vital three points they needed to move back to the top of the log with 65 points. This puts them three points ahead of second-placed Al Akhdood, who only play on Friday.
With just four games left to play, Mosimane’s side is also 15 points ahead of Al-Faisaly, who still have one game in hand. Although Al-Faisaly still has five games outstanding, Al Ahli needs just one more point to confirm their promotion to the first tier. While this seems like an almost inevitable outcome, it is worth noting that Al-Faisaly could theoretically pick up 15 points in their remaining games.
Al Ahli’s promotion to the Saudi Pro League could be confirmed on Friday if Al-Faisaly, who are coached by former Kaizer Chiefs Giovanni Solinas, do not win their game against 16th-placed Najran SC.
Overall, Mosimane has demonstrated impressive management skills, picking up 16 wins, six draws, and only two defeats since taking charge of Al Ahli. His team has shown great resilience and determination, and it is no surprise that they are on the brink of securing promotion to the top tier of Saudi Arabian football.
