The Top Five Teams
1. Mamelodi Sundowns – 45 goals
Sundowns are comfortably leading the pack with 45 goals scored so far this season, which accounts for 11.6% of all the goals scored in the league. Peter Shalulile has been the top scorer for the Brazilians with 11 goals, while Cassius Mailula is not far behind with nine goals. Neo Maema has contributed five goals, and Haashim Domingo has three goals. In addition, Themba Zwane, Mothobi Mvala, Marcelo Allende, and Abubeker Nasir have all scored twice, while seven other players have each scored once.
2. SuperSport United – 28 goals
SuperSport United are in second place with 28 goals, but coach Gavin Hunt will be disappointed with this tally. Bradley Grobler has scored the most goals for the team with nine, while teenager Thapelo Maseko has scored three goals. Five players – Onismor Bhasera, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Grant Margeman, Zakhele Lepasa, and Thamsanqa Gabuza – have each scored twice, and four others have scored one goal each.
3. Kaizer Chiefs – 27 goals
Kaizer Chiefs have scored 27 goals this season, but their goal difference of just one shows that they have struggled defensively. Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has been their top scorer with seven goals, while Keagan Dolly has scored four times. Ashley Du Preez has contributed three goals, while S’fiso Hlanti, Yusuf Maart, Siyabonga Ngezana, and Mduduzi Shabalala have all scored twice. Christian Saile, the new signing, is among four other players to score one goal each.
4. Stellenbosch – 27 goals
Stellenbosch has been one of the more attacking teams in the league this season, scoring 27 goals. Junior Mendieta, Devin Titus, and Iqraam Rayners have all scored five times each, with Sinethemba Mngomezulu contributing four goals. Antonio Van Wyk has scored twice, and four players, including the late Oshwin Andries, have netted once.
5. Golden Arrows – 27 goals
Golden Arrows have also scored 27 goals, but they have a -7 goal difference, indicating that their defense has let them down. Pule Mmodi and Knox Mutizwa have scored six goals each, while Nduduzo Sibiya has netted four times. Three players – Velemseni Ndwandwe, Nqobeko Dlamini, and Ryan Moon – have scored twice, while five other players have one goal each.
Orlando Pirates, Cape Town City, and Royal AM have also scored 26 goals each this season. Monnapule Saleng is the Pirates’ biggest contributor with eight goals, while City’s top scorer is Khanyiso Mayo with seven. Ruzaigh Gamildien and Mfundo Thikazi have both scored five goals each for Royal AM.
