The Land Resources Division (LRD) of SPC plays a pivotal role in advising, offering technical assistance, conducting research, and providing training to Pacific Island countries and territories in various aspects of agriculture and forestry.
LRD’s multifaceted scope encompasses plant protection, conservation, plant genetic resources, animal health and production, agroforestry, biosecurity and trade facilitation, as well as sustainable systems for agriculture, forestry, and land management.
The division operates with twin goals: enhancing food and nutritional security and building resilient communities.
These services are rendered through seven specialized technical teams: Animal Health and Production; Plant Health; Biosecurity and Trade Facilitation; Forest and Agriculture Diversification; Crop Production and Extension; Genetic Resources; and Forests and Trees.

Programme Leader – Markets for Livelihoods
Do you hold a master’s degree in agriculture or international development? Are you a seasoned professional with over 12 years of experience in project management or a similar role within a regional or international organization?
If you possess expertise in agricultural supply chains, extension services, and sustainable production, you could be the perfect fit for this role.
The ability to publish in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and experience in fundraising, proposal preparation, and project management are key assets.
Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
National Coordinator – ITC Project
If you have a degree in agriculture, project management, business administration, or a related field and a minimum of 3 years of practical experience in agriculture or relevant domains, this role might be your calling.
Familiarity with the Vanuatu Agriculture sector and hands-on involvement in community development activities will be advantageous.
Your expertise in value chain systems development, relationship building, and stakeholder engagement will contribute to the success of the project. Fluency in English is a must.
Organic Production Systems Officer
Are you equipped with a tertiary degree in tropical agriculture or a similar field, along with training in organic certification and tropical agriculture?
With 5-6 years of relevant experience in organic production and an understanding of traditional Pacific agriculture systems, you could excel in this role.
Your proficiency in working with certification systems/processes, developing funding proposals, and cultivating strategic partnerships will be vital. Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written, are essential.
