Wadi On The Radar: South African Soccer Giants Keep Close Eye
Kaizer Chiefs keeping tabs on Zimbabwean winger Ishmael Wadi
South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly interested in Zimbabwean winger Ishmael Wadi. The player is currently plying his trade for JDR Stars in the South African National First Division.
Kaizer Chiefs monitoring Wadi since last year
According to reports by Soccer Laduma, Kaizer Chiefs have been keeping a close eye on Wadi since last year. The publication cites an unnamed source who confirmed the club’s interest in the player. The source said: “Chiefs want to sign Ishmael Wadi from JDR Stars. He is a very good winger with a great experience. They have been monitoring him since last year and even followed him when he went to Afcon 2022 with the Zimbabwe national team.”
Possible free transfer at the end of the season
The publication also reports that Kaizer Chiefs could acquire Wadi on a free transfer at the end of the season. The player joined JDR Stars in 2021 on a two-year deal from Zimbabwean side CAPS United. His current deal expires on 30 June this year.
Wadi’s impressive performances caught Chiefs’ attention
Wadi’s impressive performances for JDR Stars are believed to be the reason why Chiefs’ scouts have been monitoring him closely. If a deal is reached, Wadi would add quality and experience to the Chiefs squad, particularly on the wing.
It remains to be seen if a deal for Wadi will materialize, but if it does, it would be a great move for both the player and Kaizer Chiefs. Wadi has proven himself to be a quality player in the South African National First Division, and a move to the DSTV Premiership could be the next step in his career. As for the Chiefs, Wadi’s addition would provide them with more options in attack and strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
