Zambia’s Young Guns: Mbesuma’s Son Earns Call-Up For AFCON Qualifiers
Lineker Mbesuma, the son of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Collins Mbesuma, has been called up to Zambia’s U17 side for the upcoming African Cup Of Nations. The 16-year-old has been making waves in South African football, having played for SuperSport Soccer School, Bidvest Wits, TS Galaxy, and currently Jomo Cosmos. Zambia’s U17 head coach Ian Bakala has included Mbesuma in his squad, alongside some new players, for the tournament in Algeria between April 29 and May 19.
Collins Mbesuma expressed his hope back in August that his son would receive a national team call-up and represent Chipolopolo. His wish has now come true, as Lineker Mbesuma is set to compete in the AFCON tournament. He expressed his excitement ahead of the competition, with Zambia’s young Chipolopolo placed in Group B alongside Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa, saying that playing for his country is an honor and his ambition is to win the AFCON and go to the World Cup.
The youngster has already gained some experience in professional football and is determined to make an impact on his nation. With the tournament approaching, Lineker Mbesuma is aware of the competition within the squad but is focused on working hard to achieve his goals. His inclusion in Zambia’s U17 team highlights the potential that he possesses and the bright future that lies ahead for him in the game.
