The Zimbabwean striker scored his first career hat-trick in the DStv Premiership, which helped push (Bahalabane ba ntwa) out of the relegation zone to 14th on the log with 27 points.
Chivaviro’s Impressive Performance
Chivaviro, 30, is now among the league’s top goal-scorers, behind Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile who has 11 goals, and Bradley Grobler who has scored 10. He converted twice from the penalty spot before scoring a spectacular third in the second half to take his goal tally to nine in the 2022/23 league campaign. Overall, Chivaviro has scored 14 goals in all competitions, with five in six games leading Gallants to the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.
Mdaka’s Praise for Chivaviro and the Team
Mdaka praised Chivaviro’s goal-scoring ability, stating that he always has a goal in him. The interim coach also commended the team’s overall performance, highlighting the strength that comes from the time they have spent together. Mdaka explained that when players have worked together for some time, they know each other’s strengths, which makes it easy for the technical team to deploy them in games.
Chivaviro’s Role in Boosting Team Confidence
Mdaka said that Chivaviro’s presence on the team gives them the confidence that they can score goals at any time. Having a reliable goal scorer like Chivaviro means that the team can always believe in their ability to get a goal. Even though it may not happen every time, knowing that they have a player like Chivaviro who can deliver in key moments, gives the team a psychological edge.
