Farewell to Zoleka Mandela: A Warrior’s Battle Ends
Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of renowned anti-apartheid icons Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, passed away at the age of 43 after a protracted battle with cancer.
Her departure came just one day before her grandmother’s would-be 87th birthday.
A Brave Fight
Zoleka’s valiant battle against cancer saw her admitted to the hospital on September 18 for ongoing treatment, confronting cancer affecting various parts of her body, including the hip, liver, lung, pelvis, brain, and spinal cord. Recent scans uncovered significant disease progression, notably lung fibrosis and multiple emboli (blood clots).
Surrounded by Loved Ones
During her final moments, Zoleka was surrounded by the comforting presence of friends and family, offering solace and support.
